Aaron As Of Late...

Aaron is OBSESSED with the election going on! Seriously! (and truthfully I love his passion about it). The other night Aaron said to me, "Aubrie, Guess What!?! You have 3 guesses!" I guessed, all of which were wrong. He then said, "You are now a registered voter!" (which we did earlier that night). Every night Aaron explains to me what is going on in the election, who is winning and who is behind. I got a text this morning saying, "Happy Florida Primary Election Day!" Haha. Oh Aaron!

A Mother's Instinct

I don't know how she does it (and I probably won't until I become a mother) but my mother is amazing and always sends something to me exactly when I need it. After a long day which is both trying and testing, my mom somehow knows that sometimes when I come home I need to come home to a little bit of "home" and that is what I always feel when I get a package from her. It brings be back to the days of going to Girls Camp and opening something in my "Care Package" each day or going on a trip and still, as a Senior in High School, receiving a "Care Package" as I headed out the door. And though I may now be married and 22 years old, those "Care Packages" mean as much to me now as they did then and I am so appreciative of the love and time that gets put into those packages. So thank you Mom (and Dad), I love and miss you dearly.
 Happy early Valentines Day.

Double Date:

Aaron and I went on a double date yesterday with my cousin Cameron and his date Megan, who was one of my roommates from this summer! It was so fun to double with them! We first went bowling at BYU! We did ok, each bowling at least a strike or two :)
Cameron then changed it up on us and had us draw "Uno" cards which corresponded to what you had to do when it was your turn. Ex. How many steps, what hand to use...it made for some good laughs!
The Gang!
We then went out for some ice cream afterwards! I would say our first "double date" as a married couple was a success! :)

I'm Walkin' Right Down The Middle of Main Street U.S.A"

(Post Title: From the Disneyland Sing-A-Long movie, a classic as a child.)

We finally had a minute to spend with each other but we couldn't think of anything to do. I finally thought of something. We had been wanting to, for a long time, to walk down cute ol' Main Street in Springville. It has the cutest shops and just this quaint feel about it. So we finally did. We packed some hot cocoa, dressed warm and set off.
Here we are in front of "SOS Drugs". It had a cute old register, soda fountain and candy place. It has been there since 1909!
This place is an old movie theater which has been around since 1927! It was so cute! They are trying to restore it so it can host movies, plays, town meetings (Gilmore Girls anyone?) I can just imagine it back in the day being the fun place to go!
Oh how we love our Springville!

Day of Decisions

With all the homework that is going on in this house there is not too much to blog about, so...you get an old archived post that never got posted :)

Aaron and I have such a hard time making decisions. Fact. It's something we need to work on. So, to sometimes  temporarily solve this problem we trade off days making decisions. If something comes up that we need to decide on, I say to Aaron, "It's your day to decide!" And then he has to decide. (Don't get me wrong, they are not huge and critical decisions but little things...like what movie to watch).I always hate when it is my day though. Hopefully someday we will learn to make decisions :)

Lots of Clapping

Tonight, Aaron had us watch the State of the Union address. I will admit, I did get pretty excited when he started talking about teachers and how they make an influence in so many lives (pay raise? please?). But what did I learn most from watching it? It involves a lot of clapping...I swear those there must workout for weeks before in preparation and President Obama's speech must only be a paragraph long with all that clapping.
Oh the things you can learn from listening to the President!

Snow, Snow, Snow, Snow

*You know you all just sang the song from "White Christmas" in your head! ;)

Most of you know, when it comes to snow, I am all "grumble, grumble, grumble". But due to the lack of snow, I am actually ok with the amount we got a couple days ago. Aaron came home from his camp-out, we ate dinner, he did some homework and then I finally said, "Let's go outside and make a snow angel in our yard." Because, as Mary-Kate and Ashley would say, "I need to get out of this house!" It was so fun!
We then had a pretty intense snowball fight but Aaron felt at a disadvantage because, in his words, "I can't actually hit you...you are my wife!"
We then took some "it's cold" pictures and "yay, it is snowing, and we are outside playing in it, how cute!" pictures
THEN...we made a snowman! He was so cute! He had a carrot nose, taffy eyes and a strip of green pepper for his mouth! We named him Russell (from the movie "Up"). We saw Russell in the morning and he was leaning, a lot, so we just said he was our "Swag Snowman".
Lastly, Aaron made this adorable message for me in the snow!
Ok, so maybe snow isn't that bad after all ;)

A House Divided:

...I hope he wasn't talking about chocolate chip cookie preferences.

First Time:

Last night was the FIRST TIME Aaron and I have ever spent a night apart from each other! :( It was so sad! He is on a camp-out with the teachers and priests right now. Thankfully my sweet sister and her roommate came and stayed the night with me. We ate pizza, (sugar free) ice cream and watched lots of chick flicks. It was fun hanging with the girls, but Aaron was truly missed. I can't wait for him to come home this afternoon.

The "Big 5"

No, I am not talking about the store...yesterday was our 5 month anniversary! Woo Hoo! We made it! We were obviously on the same wave length because we both got each other a little something. It was quite fun and cute. Check it out :)
Mine was nothing special, but it's the thought that counts...right?
Aaron was cute and hid this under our pillows while I was in the shower. I will try and remember all the things he said the chocolate represented...it went like this:
Aaron: "Notice anything special about the chocolates? There are 5...because we have been married 5 months.  Notice anything else??? There are TWO dark chocolate ones, because those are your favorite, resembling that you are my favorite. Anything else you notice??? There is also a variety of chocolates there...which means you add variety to my life. You are crazy (pause) but I like it." Haha. Thanks Hon ;)

Merry Christmas! Love, The Butlers

Since I guess it is the "new cute thing" for newly married couples to send out an adorable Christmas Card (apparently Aaron and I didn't get the memo), here is one I threw together. Merry "Belated" Christmas! ;)

(Enter LOTS of laughs here!)

YouTube Superstars!

I have NO time today to blog (or to even come up with anything to blog). Life just seems to becoming more and more busy! So today, you get to watch a video.
This is a video my family made this Christmas Break. It is titled, "Dancing With An Ipod In Public: Hansen Family Edition". It is pretty cool if you ask me. Enjoy!

Homemade Drive-In!

Monday, MLK Day, lots of homework to do, it starts to snow, Aaron's activity which was hiking is out of the question, we begin to brainstorm ideas, we wish we could go to a fun old fashioned "drive-in" movie, we then thought...we will make our own drive in movie, and that is exactly what we did!

We put our Futon mattress in the back of Aaron's car, loaded up all the blankets and pillows we own, rented a movie, brought some snacks, drove a little ways up the mountain and we had our own drive in movie! It was so so so fun! I would highly recommend doing it if you can, but maybe summer might be a little more enjoyable because it was quite chilly!

Look-A-Like

Yesterday Aaron and I were talking to my cousin Josh. He then said to his daughter, "Say, you look like a Ken Doll!"
We all began to laugh and then I really thought about it...he DOES look like a Ken Doll! :)
Points for me! I guess I know what we are being for Halloween this year!

We were up in Mountain Green to see my cousin Natalie for her Homecoming! She just returned from her mission to Tucson, Arizona! It was great seeing her and all the fam!

Plan vs. What Happened

Plan: Study and do homework all day Saturday so we can just play on Monday (no school!)
What Happened: Spent all day cleaning, organizing, hanging, vaccumming the house.

Plan: Buy an attena to go on our TV so we could watch the Miss America Pageant that night.
What Happened: We spent 2 hours shopping, buying, trying it out, finding it didn't work, went to get a different one and finally found out our TV is too old and everything is digital now.

Plan: Watch Miss America, vote for our favorites, do a point system, see who won
What Happened: Since we couldn't watch it, we looked up their profiles online and picked our top ten and narrowed it down from there. We looked up later to see who had one. We both did pretty well in our picks. Aaron's #1 got 3rd runner up and my #1 got runner up :)

Plan: We then decided to watch a movie, Star Trek to be exact (Aaron asked me what I knew about it, I said, "Pointy Ears and the Reading Rainbow guys wears a headband over his eyes!).
What Happened: We finally went to go watch it and it was unavailiable, and so we decided to watch the movie "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" On YouTube, split into 8 different parts. Haha.

Plan: We then decided to go to bed and try again tomorrow.
What Happened: And that's exactly what we did ;)

"Donut" You Know I Love You?

I have the cutest husband ever! Today was my first observed lesson while Student Teaching (from what I could tell, it went AWESOME!). Aaron, being the sweet boy he is, had this for me when I came home! Love Him!
(It's an Apple Fritter...not a cow intestine or anything else that it might look like :)

Creativity

Our weekend consisted of doing lots of homework and so to break up the monotony of it all we pulled out this huge block of clay that our cousins Matt and Lauren had left for us. We decided to mold each other in clay. The first is the one that Aaron did of me. He said it is me at age 40...I hope my waist is still that small when I am 40 ;) He did a great job.
I did a much simpler version of Aaron because I am not as artistic. I just did his head and then I added some cool extra things to him (kind of like Mr. Potato Head). It was a fun little activity and our "date night" for the week.

I Married "The Man"

My husband is amazing. That is all I have to say. I always love Aaron but there are just those days and times where I am just overflowing with love for him and it is indescribable...yesterday was one of those days.

(On a side note: Aaron and I both just got callings in our ward! Aaron is the 1st Counselor in the YM Presidency and I am the Beehive Advisor. We are pretty excited about it and both taught for the first time yesterday!)

Aaron came out of YM so excited yesterday. He already has this overwhelming love for the boys he is working with and it was amazing to see how much they already love him. They were slapping him (you know how men do) when they passed by him in the hall and already have a nickname for him. I was not surprised by how much they love him, but just so happy. It was also amazing to hear Aaron's lesson and how he modified it just for the boys and what they needed. He brought in key boy words and scenarios such as "Betos" (a gross Mexican joint in town that they love) and somehow made an analogy to the Priesthood as he drew a basketball court on the board.

I married a most wonderful man and I am thankful for him each and everyday.

Motivation

I needed something to motivate me enough to get out of bed every day at 7:00am when my alarm goes off (and not hit the snooze button a gazillion times). What did I decide would be motivation enough? These little delicious things:
Valentine Sweetheart Candies.
I am obsessed with them (thankfully Aaron doesn't like them, so more for me). I made a deal with him that if I get up every day for a month at 7:00am, without hitting the snooze button, I could buy the big bag of these from BYU and eat them ALL! He agreed...but he said he would have to ration them out to me. Sounds good to me! Early mornings...bring it on! ;)

Ice Ice Baby

On Monday we drove back up to P-Town. I was sad to leave the beautiful weather and our family but thankfully we came back to no snow (YAY!). We did come back to this though...
our house was 48 degrees when we came home. Who knew it could get down that low! Needless to say everything in our house was freezing (especially our bed!) and so we had to sleep with sweat pants, socks and blankets!

P.S. It snowed for the FIRST time today. Nooooooooooo! I am beyond sad! Here is to hoping it melts soon!

You Just Have To Laugh...

Today was my first day in the 6th grade. It was quite a funny day with the 6th grade boys. Here are some stories:

1. During lunch my teacher told everyone that one of the boys saw my picture on her desk last week (on my application) and whispered to some of the other boys in the class, "She is HOT!" Haha.
2. When I introduced myself today I told the students I was married, they all turned to look at this little boy who started blushing, major!
3. While getting the students from lunch recess we saw one of the other 6th grade classess lining up. Their teacher came up afterwards and said the boys in her class put in a special request for me to be their substitue teacher tomorrow.
4. Lastly, while getting the students from afternoon recess, one boy said to the other, "Move! You are blocking my view!" and I turned to see he was looking at me...he was pretty embarassed!

If only I had a picture with me to show all of you what I looked like in 6th grade, haha, believe me...the boys were not saying the same things! Oh man, I can already tell this is going to be an interesting couple of weeks! You got to love 6th grade boys ;)

Another 1st...

Today was Aaron's "first" day at BYU (well, kind of...he did go summer term, but anyways...) and it was my "last" "first" day of school! Woo Hoo! In honor of this, I made Aaron take a "first day of school picture" by the door.

We both had a good first day of school. Aaron's schedule is looking like it will be a little tough and require a lot of his time (as we can already tell: he left this morning at 7:45 came home at 5:35, ate dinner with me until 5:50 and then headed to a church meeting which means he won't be home until 8:30. Sad. We are already missing the days of spending time together each night just talking. Aaron said before he left, "We should stay up all night tonight and talk and cuddle!") Here is to a long semester apart.

My first day went well. I am in a 6th grade classroom which I am a little nervous about but it will be a great learning experience. My mentor teacher seems really great! I am really excited because I timed my drive to the school and it took me 4 minutes and 35 seconds. That is 85 minutes and 25 seconds less than my last drive :) The school is right down the street from our apartment. Par-Tay!

I am not sure how many posts I will be doing this semester since we will rarely see each other and weekends will consist of homework, but I will surely try. Loves to all.

Our 1st Date:

On January 1st, Aaron and I celebrated the anniversary of our first date, which was on
  January, 1st 2008
Can you believe our first date was 4 years ago!?! Crazy! Little did we know then (I sure hoped) that we would be getting married! In honor of that wonderful even that got it all started, I thought I would reminisce about the date with some of the MANY pictures I took on that date!
(P.S. for the date we went shooting in the desert and cooked breakfast there: eggs, biscuits and gravy. A very fun and creative date!)
P.P.S. Anyone else notice Aaron "putting is arm around me to help me" or "let me show you how to use the gun". Haha. Loved it then and still love it now :)
