Memorial Day Weekend 2012

We had a fun, jam packed weekend full of family and friends and we LOVED it!

Friday: We went to Matt and Lauren's house and had a delicious dinner, we played the Wii and then played a fun game called "Quelf" which is similar to Cranium but it makes you do weird and awkward things, which is hilarious to watch. (*Que pictures...)

The next morning Lauren and I got up and went to Zumba, we then came home and had homemade delicious pancakes and then decided to go a on a hike. It was windy, rainy and cold but we decided to go anyways. We drove up the beautiful Nebo Loop and found a beautiful hiking trail. It did lightly snow while we were walking but we still had fun.

The boys found sticks and the whole time back were hitting rocks into the wild. Overall it was about a 2 mile hike.

We then came back and had Cafe Rio and watched some TV before we left. It was so fun to be able to spend some time with our cousins who live so close. Thanks Matt and Lauren!

Sunday, after church Aaron and I picked up Chuck and headed up to Huntsville, Ut to the "Hansa Haus", which is Hansen House in Dutch (we think). It was SO much fun! We arrived to find G&G, Nat and a friend, Josh and his cute family. We had a delicious dinner and learned some new card games (what is a Hansen get together without card games?)
We also played on the "carpet spools" in the living room and had races to see who could walk on them fastest across the room. Aaron and Chuck even attempted to switch which spool they were on with each other. Haha, made for some funny pictures.
Aaron and I were lucky enough to get a bed...in the 2 bedroom house and we loved it.
The next morning Aaron and I went on a walk together up the stream and over a bridge. We then had a cinnamon french toast with apple crumb cake syrup...I will definitely be making that again soon! We then...played more card games! So fun! We did a nice flag raising ceremony for Memorial Day, said the pledge and even sang the National Anthem!
We also played some games out on the lawn such as the "ladder" game which is shown below.
One of the ball/string things went into the river and so Aaron was nice enough to go into the freezing water to retrieve it....he accidently fell in :)
More Aunts and Uncles came up and it was a party! We had a yummy BBQ and were really sad to leave Monday night! Can't wait for July to spend more time with everyone!

Mockingjay

Aaron and I listened to the Mockingjay (third book in the Hunger Games series) on CD as we traveled in the car together. And guess what...we really liked it! Surprise, Surprise! I know we are the only ones in the history of ever to like it, but we did, we really did! We thought the ending was just what needed to happen and be said about everything and everyone. Now all you haters out there, don't go telling us why you didn't like it because we don't want to be persuaded otherwise! District 12 for life!

Aaron and I went to this website and got our own Hunger Games ID's. I thought it would be a quiz to see which District we should be in, but it just assigned us. Aaron: District 3. Job: Assembly Operator. Aubrie: District 10. Job: Barn Manager (Funny much? That is Aaron's current job! ;)

And here are some last photos of us in our "Hunger Games Obsession" (HGO). This is after we saw the movie, the theater was celebrating the new release by taking these photos of people :)

Cowboy Ball

Aaron, who is working up at "the farm" all Summer, was in charge of getting the place ready for the "Cowboy Ball" which is a fundraiser that Bronco Mendenhall (Coach of BYU football) puts on for a charity him and his wife created. We were lucky enough to attend! Here are some pics:
Aaron hammering some concrete into pieces for the flower pots.
The beautiful inside of the barn as they were starting to set up.
Aaron and I were in charge of directing traffic and showing cars where to park.
We then sat at one of Steve's reserved tables with Nate and Lydia, some football players and even Bronco Mendenhall's son! Pretty Awesome! It was catered by Ruby Red Steakhouse and we even had a delicious french toast like dessert!
Look who also sat at our table! A hummingbird!
Everyone there got signed footballs from the BYU football team!
After dinner they proceeded with a live and silent auction. They sold BYU games where you could travel with the team and sit on the sidelines. Let's just say...when the bidding started at $10,000...Aaron and I did NOT raise our hands! :)
Aaron then decided to ride the Bull a couple times and did really great! It was hard to get some action shots because he was moving so fast! But he still looks awesome!
They had a live Country Band which was so neat and we were able to dance the night away ;)
Aaron and his "Farm Crew". Awwww...so sweet!
