Conference Weekend.

In the words of Mary-Kate and Ashley, "We need a vacation. From our daily vocation. Oh, Oh, Oh!"
Our life lately has been school, school, school. (Hence the lack of blogging). But we are excited this weekend to relax, be with family, eat lots of food and listen to the Prophet.
Life is good.

Gimme Pizza!

Today in Kindergarten we did a classroom restaurant. It was a lot of work to organize but so much fun! I organized centers throughout the week where the students made menus, a banner, name tags/hats, placemats and learned how to wash dishes. The AM class was "Rees' Eats" and the PM class was "Pizza Parlor".
I taught mini lessons on Restaurant vocabulary and the different jobs at restaurants. The students then voted on which job they wanted to do (Host/Hostess, Waiter/Waitress, Busboys, Cooks, Cashier, Entertainer, Drinks, Salad, Dishwasher...). And today was the day!
It was amazing how well the Kindergarteners did. Between the AM and PM class we served over 130 people! (Parents, Siblings and Grandparents). The students took orders, made pizza, put salad and cookies on the plates, made and served drinks, cleaned up and set up again for the next set and so much more. They were so cute all dressed in red with name tags and hats. The parents loved it and I did too!

Saw It...LOVED It!

We saw the HUNGER GAMES on Friday and we loved it! We randomly decided to go and it was such a great decision! (BYU Students-Movie Theater at the Riverwoods...take in your ID, get a Matinee Price!) I met Aaron there after school and I brought some Papa Murphy's pizza we had bought the night before (yes, for 2 people)
As we walked around we noticed there was a Hunger Games party going on at the Riverwoods. Different stores (picked for their name) were assigned "Districts". Aka. "Rocky Mountain" Chocolate Factory was District 12 and "Called to Surf" (Don't Ask!) was District 4 (Fishing).
Our theater was even decked out (probably from the midnight showing the night before)
As I said we saw the movie and loved it (There was a mix up and the put the wrong movie in at first, it was bad, but thankfully we got free movie tickets as we walked out! Score!). We thought the movie followed the book really well and everyone was cast to perfection. It had a little bit of everything: it made me cry, laugh and cover my eyes!
Afterwards the party was still going on and so we took pictures with "Katniss and Peeta". (Pictures to come later)
You could do a Hunger Games relay race where you run, pick up your backpack, crawl through tunnels and so much more!
Yes, I am the "Girl On Fire!"
Always and Forever, Team Peeta!

Musings

1. We are suckers for coupons and end up paying more than we would have if we wouldn't have used the coupon in the first place. Don't you hate that?
2. Went to a teacher fair today...I officially have continuous stomach nervous stress cramps sickness (CSNSCS).
3. Graduation is less than a month away...hallelujah!
4. Signed up for Spring classes (DON'T ASK!) and I am taking Zumba, Golf and Guitar. Thanks BYU for the full tuition scholarship.
5. PASSED my Teacher Work Sample. Par-Tay!
6. Hunger Games comes out tonight, almost bought tickets for 3:15 AM but we want to be awake when we see it.
7. I have the BEST husband ever! Jamba for lunch and Snickers for dinner? Need I say more?
8. Seriously can't wait for Spring Cleaning!
9. I need to be more positive waking up in the morning so I stop hurting Aaron's feelings with all I say to him as he kindly tries to pull me out of bed.
10. Yes...I am procrastinating writing lesson plans. Thanks for asking!

Team Peeta!

To say Aaron and I are obsessed with the Hunger Games would be an understatement. Seriously. It's a problem! We finished the first book last weekend and finished the second this weekend. We have been reading them and taking turns catching up to the other one.  Last night I probably read aloud 100 pages to Aaron so we could finish the second book, around midnight. We are looking into purchasing the series we like them so much.
hunger games trilogy
My problem is that they are starting to become a little too real. Last night, as we were laying in bed, in the dark, after we finished the book, my phone went off and I jumped 10 feet in the air. I was scared out of my mind that some guy with a trident or a girl with an ax would come at me in the dark and try to kill me. I now literally live in fear. Tonight, Aaron accidentally turned off the last light in our house and I freaked out telling him to turn the light on immediately! Let's just say...I would NOT be a good candidate in the Hunger Games.

Aaron and I now also have our own "Hunger Games" lingo that we use to communicate on a daily basis.
Ex. "I was so angry I was going to 'Hunger Games' them!"
Ex. "I Peeta you!" "I 'loaf' you!" "I 'knead' your love!
Ex. "He is so 'Finnik'-y!"
Ex. "Don't do that, the 'Capitol' will get you!"
Ex. "Good luck today and 'May the odds be ever in your favor'!"
May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor Hunger Games Inspired Poster
The list goes on, but you get it. We are hoping to see the show on Friday! I am a little nervous but mainly really excited about it! Team Peeta!

Weekend Celebrations:

Friday I didn't have school and so after Aaron's Stats class we went and got "Brunch" at IHOP because we had a coupon for there. We enjoyed spending time together and on a Friday none the less. We then took Carlie to the airport for the 2nd time and thankfully she made it on this flight! We came home and did homework, laundry, cleaned and cooked dinner (all the stuff that gets neglected during the week).
This morning (St. Patrick's Day) the Leprechaun came! I slipped out of bed this morning and went to get the stuff from the car and Aaron runs out and says, "Where are you going?" I told him to go back to bed! It is a tradition in my family on St. Patrick's Day that the Leprechaun visits by leaving a trail of pennies from your bed to another place in the house where you find "green themed" gifts. It was so fun to do it for Aaron and start the tradition in our family.
After that Aaron and I headed to meetings all morning (Aaron for Scouts and me for teaching). We are now relaxing, doing homework, procrastinating and doing nothing really important, which is fun for once!

Featured

I know it is not front page (or even a half a page) but I have exciting news...Aaron and I made it into the BYU Bridal Magazine! Pretty cool, right? How many times do you get featured in a magazine? I was asked about a month ago by a girl I know, who works on the magazine, if they could use one of our engagement pictures. Of course I said, YES! It wasn't one of our favorites but hey, we will take what we can get! Feel free to get your copy now from the Wilkinson Center and we will even sign a copy for you ;)

The Starving Activities

So. We meet again. This time with a new topic of conversation. The Starving Activities. Ya know...the book that everyone is talking about? The ones with Can't-kiss Everclean and Cheeta Mellbark? Right?

Today I had a little mind bomb...an epiphany, if you will. The Hunger Games can be related to nearly everything in life. It's main parallel to society though? The reality TV series, THE BACHELOR.

Hear me out.

-Bachelor season starts with 25 girls. The Hunger Games start with 24 tributes.
-Each girl gets an interview. Each contestant gets an interview.
-Several girls get eliminated on the first night. Several tributes get killed within the "bloodbath" (the first day of the games)
-On the first night, the girls fight for the "First Impression Rose." First few minutes of the Hunger Games, the tributes are fighting for the Cornucopia.
-The Bachelor has Chris Harrison who adds input and manipulates dating situations. The Gamekeepers in the Hunger Games control the conditions of the game.
-Each Bachelor season is in a different location. Each Hunger Games is in a different setting.
-Only one girl can win the Bachelor. Only one tribute can survive the games.
-Certain girls become friends on the show. Tributes form alliances.
-Girls receive roses to keep them from being eliminated. Tributes receive parachutes with little gifts in them to keep them alive.
-Bachelor: drama. Hunger Games: drama.

Just something to think about. But seriously though, THE HUNGER GAMES. I am STOKED for the movie to come out. I will probably do a movie review once I see it. I read books one and two this last week. I just couldn't seem to put them down! If you like blood and death and pain and sorrow and heartache then this is your kind of book. Joke...kind of. It has its fair share of romance too :) I recommend them. 2 thumbs up. District 12 for life!

Tale As Old As Time...

Aaron and I went last night to see our niece Heidyn in her Jr. High Production of Beauty and the Beast! It was wonderful to see her as a dancing Fork! She did a great job!
She even signed our program!

Watch Out...We Exercise

Yes, that is right folks and no, you did not read it wrong...Aaron and I have started to work out. Seriously. No, I never thought those words would come out of my mouth.
Day #1: Intense workout lead by Aaron which left my abs, legs, arms, shoulders and just about every part of me sore.
Day #2: Zumba, now that is my kind of workout. We rented a DVD from the Library, popped it in and danced worked out all night. I don't know, this might become a regular thing. Watch out world!

For Future Reference

Warning, this blog post will be boring but, as the title says, it is just for "future reference" when we want to look back and see what we did on the weekend of March 4th, 2012.

Friday: Homework
Saturday: Took Carlie to the doctor because she had 2 bad bug/spider bites (See HERE). We got her some medicine and sent her on her way. The rest of the day consisted of cleaning, homework-ing and eating a delicious salad.
Sunday: We went to church and then had Brittany and Tyson Anderson over for some Pazookies and games.

Overall it was a good (and a tad uneventful) weekend. Thanks for reading ;)

Dr. Seuss

Yesterday was Dr. Seuss' birthday. To celebrate it in Kindergarten we wore our pajamas, made green eggs and ham in class and colored Cat in the Hat hats that had rhyming words on them. This inspired me when it came to what we would have for dinner.

Pancakes, and GREEN EGGS and HAM!
(I know it looks a little gross, but it was really yummy!)
It was actually quite delicious and I am happy to say I have dinner planned every March 2nd through eternity!
Here is a quote or two from Dr. Seuss that I love:
Today you are you, that is truer than true, there is no one alive that is youer than you!
“I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100%”

And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.

Pomp & Circumstance

Tonight I ordered my Cap and Gown! Seems pretty surreal! I can't believe I have been through 4 years of college! I am finally completing my long awaited dream! I am going to do it! Can't wait!
Looks good on me, huh?
P.S. I had to register my weight as "under 200 pounds"...pretty sure I will be wearing a tent to Graduation :)
P.P.S. Also super excited that "Rory Gilmore's" Graduation will line up with mine. (Big Dork...I know!)
